Recent Updates to Act 250

Act 181 of (2024) made changes to various laws related to land use, commercial development, and housing development, including Act 250. The Act made changes to the structure, name, and function of the Board, created short-term temporary exemptions from Act 250 jurisdiction to encourage housing development, established a new, permanent location-based tiered approach to Act 250 jurisdiction; created a new application criterion to protect forest blocks and habitat connectors from fragmentation, and integrated regional planning and mapping into the tiered jurisdiction system.
