Introduction
Act 181 charged the Board, in consultation with the Department of Forests, Parks, an Recreation with convening “a stakeholder group to report on how to address the Act 250 permitting process to better support wood products manufactures and their role in the forest economy.” The Board will examine the Act 250 permitting process and any challenges with the minor review process. Additionally, the Board will review all related permitting (municipal, state agency and Act 250 permits) to develop recommendations on efficiency and recommendations for alternative permitting processes for wood product manufacturers.
The Report is due to the House Committees on Agriculture, Food Resiliency, and Forestry and on Environment and Energy and the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Energy. The Board requested an extension of December 15, 2025 deadline to June 30, 2025 to ensure adequate input from stakeholders and the newly appointed Land Use Review Board.
